Our Patient's Safety During COVID-19

Our center is a controlled space, staffed by providers who understand and have experience in managing infection and disease. Especially in the surgical arena, providing exceptional infection control precautions is simply a daily way of life for us.

That said, we know you have questions about your upcoming procedure. Please be aware that we are taking further steps to ensure your safety and comfort.

Before Your Procedure:

You will need a responsible adult escort to drive you to your procedure and home. We will need to know the name and a cell phone number for your escort, and they will need to remain on property until your procedure is complete.

When You Arrive:

  • Please call the following number once you pull into the parking lot: 201-661-7500.
  • Your escort will need to walk you to the front door.
  • Our intake nurse will come to the door to escort you into the building. (You must come to the center with a mask/face covering)
  • The intake nurse will review your health information and do a final health screening before proceeding. Your temperature will be taken at that time.
  • (Your escort will need to wait in the car until your procedure is done.) They will pick you up at the front door once they are called.
  • If your patient escort needs to accompany you, they must undergo the same health screening you will be subject to and follow all applicable center safety measures.

After Your Procedure:

  • We will call your escort to alert them when we are ready to discharge you.
  • We will bring you to the front door to meet your escort.
  • At this time, we will review the findings of the procedure with you and, depending on your post-operative communication preference, your escort. You will also be provided with discharge information and instructions.
  • If you should need to speak with the physician about concerns or questions you may have, that communication can be arranged.

Is it safe to have my surgery?

  • While there is risk with any surgery, we are taking every precaution to ensure you are safe during your procedure.
  • We are taking extra precautions to prescreen patients prior to their arrival at the center.
  • We are rescheduling any patients who may be a greater risk.

Can I get COVID-19 from surgery?

  • We keep our surgery center much cleaner than most other public places. We hold ourselves to the high infection control standards established for healthcare facilities.
  • Our center is a controlled space, staffed by providers with experience in managing disease and infections.

What guidelines are you following for the safety of your patients during this time?

  • We follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the World Health Organization, CMS, AMI, American College of Surgeons and The Association for Anesthesiologists.
  • Our center maintains the standards of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid as well as accrediting organizations like Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
  • All medical and business office staff will wear masks during any interaction. Our medical staff is provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, gowns, aprons and gloves, to keep them and our patients safe.
  • We are maintaining safe distance protocols whenever possible. This includes limiting the number of people in the center at any given time and spacing out chairs so they are at least six feet apart in the waiting area.

How do you clean your center to keep me safe?

  • We follow all state and national recommendations to keep our centers clean and safe.
  • We have increased our already stringent cleaning protocols. Only EPA-registered cleaning products are used, and waiting areas are cleaned at least twice a day. This includes high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, tabletops, countertops, handles, sinks and faucets. Hand sanitizer will be available near the front desk.
  • We clean every procedure room both before and after every patient. In addition, we clean all of our public areas every two hours.
  • Our cleaning procedures are regularly reviewed by the accreditation bodies listed above.
